WOMEN'S FOUNDATION

Created in 1988 by a group of determined women, The Women's Foundation of Nepal has been helping women and children victims of violence. WFN works across Nepal for the respect of the women’s rights! WFN has built a shelter in which live 110 children and 40 women, many professional workshops are available to women while children are attending private schools. WFN has also a major weaving production center where women, after receiving psychological support and legal assistance (WFN has its own lawyers), can work in a friendly atmosphere. The concept is to work in a fair-trade business and the women receive part of profits. Unfortunately WF is receiving more and more requests to support women in precarious situations and doesn’t know how to respond financially!

In early 2010 Dil Se funded the mushroom cultivation workshop and the purchase of a soya machine and in December 2010 we decided to participate in the operating budget for the food in the shelter. We are also seeking funds to support WFN in their goal of expanding the weaving production center, which on a long term basis would give better possibilities of self-financing. The shawls and other products that come out of the production center at WFN are made in high quality. MEA

The main objective of MEA (Massanga Education and Assistance) is to abolish female circumcision in Sierra Leone. The message and the action of MEA is to provide a real alternative to circumcision (while respecting the traditions) by sponsoring the education of all girls.

The team of MEA are doing a a remarkable job in many villages;  they also run a nursery school built by them. After 10 years of war it is has been very difficult for families to build a future for their children and they generally fail to pay the school expenses.

With MEA nearly 300 children benefit from school education (mostly girls, who are prevented from excision). Dil Se sponsors 20 girls who all come from the same village.

MEA is looking for volunteers to train the teachers in the primary school and  also looking for groups willing to sponsor all the children of one village! There is a large waiting list. For any contact or info please visit the MEA official link: http://saveme.over-blog.org
