Since I have a background in social sciences and some experience in the field of social work, we decided with the volunteer commission of Dil Se that I'd share my time between working with children and adolescents and office work related to various projects of the foundation. As soon as I started, I discovered that the schedule may vary depending on the needs of ongoing projects, hence the importance of flexibility and initiative. As a volunteer I have the opportunity to work in different areas such as field work, communication, fundraising and project management which is very interesting and rewarding.

Through my work I also have an overview of the role of women and children in the Nepalese society and the challenges they face today. Women's Foundation does a great job that actually improves their living conditions through numerous projects highly relevant and effective. By working as a volunteer, I can observe, learn and acquire knowledge and at the same time make a small contribution, which is extremely gratifying and is a reward in itself.

In my free time, I have the opportunity to visit wonderful places in Kathmandu and to go on an adventure to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Nepal. I also have the chance to live and work with Nepalese people Nepali-style and to discover new ways of thinking and acting. It is not always easy to integrate into a new culture, although, the openness, kindness, warmth and goodwill of the members of the Women's Foundation have always made me feel welcomed, supported and appreciated. This volunteer is an unforgettable experience and incredibly rewarding that I would recommend to anyone with a passion for discovery and an open and caring spirit.
